Well, Apparently We're Not Going To Default

That's what I get for having any faith in any of these people.

This will be a short one. I just got off a Space with Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert, and George Santos (can anybody explain why he was there?). They were parroting the same, tired old lines about how it’s really a much better deal than anyone expected, talking about Ukraine, the border wall, giving Santos speaking time (?!) and just generally stealing ten minutes of my time that I am never going to get back.

They gave absolutely no indication that they plan to use the powers they fought for - namely, a single Rep being able to initiate a vote of no confidence to vacate the Speaker’s chair - to do anything about this horrific disaster of a “deal.”

Lest I repeat myself, that’s what I get for having any faith in any of these people.

Congress is broken. If those guys aren’t going to stand up to this, I can’t imagine that any of them ever will. Swamp fever has the highest R0 of anything I’ve ever seen. I’m disgusted, I’m mad, and I was wrong.

It sure ain’t often that I’m accused of being an optimist.

Lesson learned.
